Carrion, carrion brought together the far corners of Laura Dee Milnes' diverse artistic practices in her first solo exhibition, creating conversations between sculpture, performance, text and sound. Framed in the domestic setting of 38b, the installation draws upon physical manifestations of grief and an exploration of the taboo physical reality of the human body, post mortem; the body as matter, material and object.

This personal study of death and ontology explores the transition of body to carcass, a metamorphosis that uncannily mirrors the transformative experience of mourning. In possession of 38b, Milnes makes her (and others') presence felt, projecting personhood in ways we don't routinely imagine, or that we try to avoid. 38b became host to an assemblage of remains - a testament to Milnes’ artistic processes and a votive offering as an attempt to understand something mortally incomprehensible and unpleasant.
