After building 'Half Scale Maquette..' Andy turned his attention towards more efficient and less macho methods to celebrate and raise awareness of the Electric Press chimney and the labour involved in its creation. The first exercises in this were simple letters to the Yorkshire Post and the Yorkshire Evening post who, clearly short on real news, happily printed the material and went as far as carrying an article with Andy in a full colour chimney pose. The article and letters provoked some interesting responses ranging from replies on the letters page telling him to get a real job, to confessions of similar love for Leeds' unheralded architecture.
Andy responded to these Yorkshire Post mediated dialogues by researching other journal-led discussions about Leeds' architecture and carving a small souvenir statue of the Electric Press Chimney, the documentation of which was shown in The Reliance pub, and by completing walks (documented as photo diaries) to the architectural features highlighted by Yorkshire Post readers. This included the railway bridge in LS9 on Selby Road and the Duomo (Cathedral) in Milan.
