103 Hours by Ian Jackson
Unit 7, Leeds Shopping Plaza. July - Sept 2010.

Ian will take a meticulous and systematic approach to the marks on the floor of an empty shop unit in Leeds Shopping Plaza. The unwanted bi-product of previous interactions with the space is the starting point for this piece.

Ian will be applying a predetermined system to extend the unwanted marks and raise them above the floor of the space. Ian aims to change the unintrusive overlooked marks, enhancing their form and drawing attention to their beauty and presence within the space.

Through spending time in the space, Ian will inevitabley alter the marks on the floor and make marks of his own. Ian will attempt to document the ever-changing information. This combined with the labour intensive nature of Ian’s practice will make the project a test of accuracy and endurance.
