Andy Abbott

Andy is a freelance curator, producer and arts organiser. Recently he was Creative Producer for Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water's Heritage High Street Action Zone Cultural Programme and subsequent Arts Council England-funded pilot programme. He was Visiting Research Curator for the UNIDEE Residency Programmes at Cittadellarte Fondazione-Pistoletto in Biella, Italy 2020 - 2022 and now a member of their advisory group.

In 2018 as Environment Programme Co-ordinator for In-Situ, Andy managed artist residencies and commissions that aim to embed art into everyday life in Pendle, East Lancashire. Through his role as Producer Visual Arts and Music at University of Bradford between 2011 and 2018, Andy produced the M@BU programme of innovate and pioneering grassroots music and the festivals Bradford Threadfest and Recon, and between 2016 and 2018 produced a pilot programme for a Centre for Socially Applied Arts.

Andy is a founding member of the UBI Lab Arts sub-group of the UBI Lab Network. He was a Director of the Community Interest Company Art In Unusual Spaces, and has been a member of various boards and steering groups for organisations including Lumen, Leeds Visual Art Forum, Leeds Creative Timebank, and Wharf Chambers Co-operative Club. He also organised DIY club nights, gigs and events with Bare Plume, No Hands and Obscene Baby Auction.
