Outside of the exhibition programme Gallery II was used as a space for residencies and ‘Art Labs’.

Artists and practitioners whose work would benefit from close proximity to students and academics from non-art disciplines, dialogue with the audiences and communities that use the University, and with a research-led, open-ended approach were invited to use the space as a studio or base for developing new or existing work.

The residencies were offered to individuals and groups who had approached the Gallery. The Arts Labs were selected through response to a themed open call, linked to the exhibition programme.
