Jennifer Bailey - New Girls
17 - 18 November 2011
38b Peckham Rye, London
New Girls was a small presentation of new works by Jennifer Bailey exhibited alongside pre-existing objects and furniture in the living room of 38b Peckham Rye.
The exhibition included photographs, printed on thin polyester, which featured a fellow artist of Jennifer's Danielle posing in her studio alongside four, hand sculpted ceramic vessels. The ceramics hinted at the female form with their tall, slightly unwieldy shape and suggested some kind of relationship with the figure in the photographs. Kept very much as a living room rather than gallery space, the domestic setting of the works lead to further associations - some intentionally contrived by the artist and others part of the existing fabric of the room.
Elements from the exhibition were included in the 2012 Bloomberg New Contemporaries.
