J*R were from Doncaster originally but had a couple of members living in Leeds over the years. They played regularly in the late 90's and early 2000's finishing around 2004 if I remember rightly. For those few years they were one of my favourite bands. They played primitive but massively hard-hitting garage and blues tinged noise-rock ala The Jesus Lizard, Mule, Penthouse and bands on Amphetamine Reptile. Rob was a charming and hilarious frontman, Mick twatted the drums like no man has done before or after and Matt (mad) Dale (Dave) provided some ball-retracting bottom-end.

Touring-wise I think the only two they may have embarked on were UK jaunts with Kill Yourself.
Matt Dale now plays in Humanfly and I think Rob did a band called Black Strap Molasses.
In 2010 I had the insane fortune to see J*R play again in Sheffield which was a pleasant reminder of why and how they were such a vital addition to the DIY music scene.

They self-released a CD EP 'The Magic that is..', did a split 7-inch with Kill Yourself (Obscene Baby Auction) and a 7-inch EP (Purr).

Appearances on: LOT 002, LOT 001
